Lordram, I think your approach is the only responsible one. To watch our triumphant hero like a hawk and keep him accountable. We are past the Pluto-in-Sadge phase of messiah projection; it is time to blossom into the Aquarian Age idea that each individual citizen has to keep up pressure on our leaders to make them change the machine. Remember what the New York Times said after the mass anti-war demonstrations all over the world just prior to the bombing of Baghdad? "There are now two superpowers in the world: the US govt and world public opinion." Obama will do nothing to "change" anything substantive without a movement behind him.

Swaha, isn't that something about barak meaning lightning? The cosmos puns. And yet, as you suggest, this gentleman may not carry the Uranus torch now that he has no arch-conservative to oppose. Among the tip offs that this would happen: his support for Bush's FISA policy was declared early in the campaign.

Thank you for your comment, MSSB. It feels like I'm egregiously late in responding, which makes me marvel that the election was a scant 3 weeks ago. The momentous election and the speeding up of time by Uranus, which amount to the same thing, are really palpable here. In response to your observation: how relative everything is. House-ownership-wise, as in so many other ways, by contrast to McCain, Obama is Uranus incarnate. But the Saturnine qualities of this exquisite man are coming out day by day. Some of them reflect the beautiful side of Saturn (his dignity; his maturity; his forebearance -- and his restrained body language); some of them reflect his less-auspicious side of Saturn (e.g. his consideration of the despicable Larry Summers for Treasury Secretary; his choosing R. Rubin as a financial adviser -- one of the key architects of the greed-fest that caused the current economic meltdown; the fact that the next administration will escalate the war in Afghanistan unless The People put pressure on our prez to stop it.)

The most crucial part of your post was mentioning whether or not Obama was capable of opposing the forces that control this country, or if indeed he even wants to. Those are the two questions upon which so much is dependent. So what do you if you voted for Obama, and you so want to let go and ride this wave of hope, but you know this country has been living a giant lie since at least 2001, and possibly since 1867? Barack does not seem to be in any hurry to tackle the real problems facing us - lack of real medicine, lack of an independent economy, lack of an independent media, complete dependence on antiquated technologies. I say all this as a person who voted for Barack, who was raised by a white mother and whose black father died when I was young. I want to believe what this guy is selling, but I can't deny what I know to be true, and if I see too many more moves like that ridiculous bailout, I am going to be extremely concerned.

I think on one level Obama represented Uranus to McCain's (or the GOP's, or the US govt's) Saturn. It's interesting that the name 'barak' is said to mean lightning in Hebrew, a symbol of uranus.
But it will be interesting as time goes on to see what will be the uranian forces that oppose Obama's saturian urges. Transits work from the personal to the universal so Obama will get worked over just as everything will be worked over.
And the drama will continue.

Looking forward to more blogs.

I take exception to one thing. Going to Harvard on scholarship (with no trust fund to support him) and working his ass off to be successful makes Obama much less Saturnine than you suggest. I think we need to remember that he and Michele only have ONE house--even though they have 2 law degrees. Seems a little radical to me. Thanks for all of your insights!
