So interesting: the 1886 railroad decision as the seminal moment in the corporations-as-persons era. And how it ended up being worded by a court clerk! Goes to show, as you suggest, that the true significance of current and historical events, and thus the real birth moments of important processes (even their culminations, for that matter), only become apparent when we look at the flow of events from the big picture; rather than going by what the media and history books identify as important facts and milestones.

Thanks for yet another fine piece. I noticed something interesting about yesterday's New Moon which, in my understanding, "activates" this latest Saturn-Uranus opposition. Namely, the New Moon moment, when located at Washington, has Pluto–just beginning to move forward in the 1st degree of Capricorn–on the Ascendant. This is an indication of an extremely potent moment, but one not likely to manifest in any earth-shaking developments. Still, this discovery and my mental agitation moved me to write a piece that I titled "Initiation," and circulated it among my astro correspondents.
I noticed on the Astroworld blog the latest post that speaks to the idea of this particular time as a seed moment, and I quote from it here:
"Obama tells Wall Street on the afternoon of the 16th, the party is over, if he means it that signals he has fulfilled his obligation the the previous administration which is where TARP was born and nurtured; Obama seems to be signaling that obligation has been filled. Credit card companies have been put on notice, this week the attorney general of NY has started investigations into the 'too large to fail banks." And our new Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor has begun questioning the May 10, 1886 law in California making corporations equal and above people.'"
Just to clarify the quote a bit, it was not an 1886 law in California, but rather a Supreme Court decision on that date on a California case (Santa Clara County vs. Southern Pacific Railroad. As far as I'm aware, this was the critical move in establishing the treatment of corporations as persons. I've even read that the precedent was effectively established by a court clerk (a corporate mole?) in the wording of his report to favor corporate interests, and was not based on the exact wording of the Court's decision. An example of how a small event can have vast consequences–one of Pluto's specialties.

We have been known to get as outraged as you get when we think of our hard-earned money going to pay mercenary thugs like those of Blackwater Inc.

I wish this statement matched my experience, but it does not. My experience is that they actually do support that kind of thuggish behavior. Blackwater was an "onward Christian soldiers" type of company to the people on that end of the political spectrum I've talked to. These are the same segment of the population that are OK with the Bush era torture policies.

This poverty is insufficiently, but consistently, assuaged by welfare checks. Are we to assume that these hard-hit communities -- which are populated, by the way, in overwhelmingly greater numbers by GOP-votin', gun-totin', government-mistrustin' folks than they are by "liberals"-- hold their noses while accepting the food stamps their government provides

I recently had an epiphany that if all these social protections end, it probably won't affect me at all. For all the talk about the evils of corporotocracy I am perfectly capable of making a living within it and receiving the protections of that system, as corrupt as it may be. I'd rather help create a more equitable system, but if it doesn't happen, it's no skin off my teeth. If these people want to cut off their own lifelines, vote against their own interests, maybe it's just karma? I'm pondering this and haven't made up my mind.

Dear Dash (short for Dashiell, as in Hammet? or for Blogspot Dashboard?),
I find that, unless a person is poised on the threshold of having his mind blown by something or other, he'll just get irritated when you try to explain how astrology works, because it involves a whole paradigm shift — more than the questioner is asking for (see "Metaphysics vs. Physics" on the Articles page of MotherSky.com). Astrology doesn't work by cause & effect, so it isn't proven by events; it's "proven" by energy. As for looking to the news to read energy shifts, the media is useful only when carefully decoded.

WOW!! Thanks for this piece.
I noticed the other day that I was in agreement with one of the other side until the point of conclusion-we came to opposite conclusions. I am a socialist I want universal healthcare,universal education as far as one needs to go, affordable housing and income support so that if one becomes unemployed one is supported until work is found. I want more government but also better government. I am sick of welfare for the priveleged.

I like this one. I have been noticing that I can identify with the anger that was in Washington on 9/12 because I don't trust the government either. The "vast right wing conspiracy" has been very succesful in channeling our collective disgust into ways that reinforce their own agenda. I mean, who would ever imagine that they could get people to defend their insurance company?? Kind of unbeleivable, when you realize that everybody who has every been sick realizes what it means to be a victim of the health care system.

As for Dash's friends concern that if something dramatic doesn't appear in the newspaper today, then "astrology doesn't work", I say relax and read deeper. Earthquakes and assasinations are very rare, and shouldn't be the "proof" of astrology working (at least I don't think so.)

I say this with adoration for you… But tell me how can I believe what you read up in the sky…

If today is such an important day, it is not showing up in news.I had pointed out your article to some friends.. and I am waiting to hear them call me on the carpet for it.

If big transits pass with a whimper like this, I don't think the stars tell anything – or may be we don't know how to read them…
