Pluto is not 'corruption' - it is transformation. Which of course may be corrupted, but does not imply that it will be so. A Pluto opposition, such as that you cite to Sun-Venus-Jupiter is not a statement to choose between Piscean bliss and Capricornian repression, but a requirement to transform the structures - civil, social, economic, governmental - which hold in place the possibility of achieving some measure of Piscean Unity. This is alchemy. That not every battle will be won and not every direction taken a healthy one is simply part of the process, and there are no guarantees of an enlightened outcome - any more than any of dozens of dangerous passages in this country's history were guaranteed to end successfully. Speak to the specifics - but don't warp the astrological interpretations into a forecast of the 'death of democracy'.

The Network of Spiritual Progressives has just announced a conference at U.C. S.F. on Feb. 15 to focus on developing positive ideas and programs for an economy and society that more fully embody the countries highest values. Michael Lerner, Bill Moyer and many other progressive leaders will be there. They also plan a four-day conference in Washington, D.C. Details at www.spiritualprogressives.org. It sounds like a time and place to meet other concerned citizens.

I have been considering the upcoming astrological aspects that take us back to
a semblance of the revolutionary 60's. If the current and upcoming aspects are
to take us to a new level I have a few ideas on how that may be achieved.
>
> The recent court recognition of corporations as having individual rights will
pump extraordinary amounts of money into the political campaigns in the upcoming
elections. I would propose that the best way for the uprising of the masses to
take place is at the voting booth.
>
> If Americans want to take back their rights and make their votes count then
they need to elect representatives to the legislature that represent their
voices. My proposal is that communities select educated, common sense,
individuals that are non-career politicians and are willing to fulfill the role
as a privilege to serve their country. They will be middle of the road small
business owners, educators, etc. representing those who are not interested in
the extremes of the left or right. They will be Independents. The upcoming
elections are ripe for Independents to finally draw the winning percentage of
votes do to the up welling of outrage over partisan bickering of the two
current parties. This will be especially so for the presidential election in
2012.
>
> If we pushed through the Internet for every community to support these
independents we would force the corporations and lobbyists to fund both of the
other parties, to their financial ruin, in order to defeat the populace
candidates. The last election proved the effectiveness of the Internet in
swinging an election.
>
> The most important note is that the elected candidates are given an agenda of
the people. Every year elected officials kick the difficult issues down the road
in order to achieve party objectives of reelection and majority at the loss of
effectively addressing critical measures. First and foremost would be the
legislation of term limitations and the repeal of any perks not afforded the
common citizen. The list would consist of ten agreed upon critical issues to be
addressed, not in order ,but all in short period with effective common sense.
>
> SAMPLE LIST (NOT In specific order)
>
> 1. Term limits and perk elimination for both houses.
>
> 2. Financial reform for banking and investment firms.
>
> 3. Beneficial economic stimulus.
>
> 4. Troop draw down to 10% levels around the world for peacekeeping and
information gathering only.
>
> 5. Massive reduction in military spending
>
> 6. Tax reform
>
> 7. Healthcare reform
>
> 8. Lobby reform/elimination of corporate contributions.
>
> 9. Prison reform
>
> 10. Aggressive reform of fraud in government programs
>
> The candidates elected will need a demonstration of accomplishment and
progress or suffer recall if they are not effective. Big business would be
financially crushed trying to defeat the popular candidates and the laws enacted
upon their election would effectively move us forward. Over the next 6 years we
could accomplish a voter revolution and allow the foundation for a new start in
the US as the long term politicians would be replaced.
>
> I call for a launch for "TEN in '10". The election of "an Independent Party
to Provide the Foundation for a New America".

I would also ask that everyone do their part to get the list
of ten agenda items, as an action item to be discussed, on the editorial pages of
every local and national paper as well as on every Sunday morning political
program and every college campus in the country.
>
This is an opportunity to provide people with the hope that they can be
empowered to make consistent and positive change through their individual
efforts. Let this be our "Moon Shot".

I think this will just cause our boundaries to expand for some people, and contract for others. I have no problem leaving the USA if things get too crazy here. If people choose to be ruled by corporations, give all their tax money to war machine, deny basic health and human services it's obvious people can do better elsewhere. Our standard of living is falling behind and we are sacrificing tomorrow for today, thinking someone else will pay. Why would the future generations agree to this? I bet they won't. Why should I pay for the debts incurred by a foolish government when I see no benefit for myself in those policies? I can "outsource" myself to a place where things are more civilized. I'm a citizen of the world.

Stella, I feel like screeching at you. Turley clearly doesn't understand the ramifications of giving Corporations Personhood and calling money speech went way beyond the scope of a movie. The supreme court ask Citezens United to re argue their case so that they could expand the scope of the case so they could do this. Corporate media is clapping because they are big corporations. We will lose the internet and their will have to be a revolution or a police state. Hopefully a Velvet Revolution. This is as big or bigger than September 11. I am on my knees.

Thank you for this insightful analysis! I am really grateful for Soul Sick Nation, and for this blog. I can't say I enjoyed finding out so many ugly things about our country, but it's always better -- and perhaps vital, given our current circumstances -- to bring all this corruption to light. I wonder if there is any hope of preventing the US from becoming, not just a home-grown fascist state, but a state run by international corporations? Maybe these newly minted "persons" will starve to death when the oil runs out?

What you write is reactive and too simplistic. Are you aware that the ACLU, who is hardly the promoter of corporate power, agreed with the majority decision. For a balanced opinion of this decision, I highly recommend reading this post:

Thank you, Bob, for adding this excellent detail to the analysis. You've shown how the symbolism spells everything out. This allows us to keep perspective despite the troubling nature of these developments: Once we see the energies encrypted in archetypal form, we can understand their bigger purpose, and respond rather than react to them. -- Jessica
